Use the steps below to activate any Xbox digital code you purchased. These instructions apply to Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S codes, including games, add-ons, memberships, and gift cards.
1) Find Your Code
After purchase, your 25-character Xbox code is available:
In your Loaded account under My Orders
In your order confirmation email
Format example: XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX
2) Redeem Your Code
Microsoft website (recommended)
Go to redeem.microsoft.com.
Sign in with the Microsoft account that should own the content.
Enter your 25-character code and follow the prompts.
On an Xbox console
Sign in on your Xbox One or Series X|S.
Press the Xbox button → Store → Redeem.
Enter your code and confirm.
Microsoft Store app on Windows
Open the Microsoft Store app.
Select your profile icon → Redeem code or gift card.
Enter your code and finish the steps.
Xbox app on PC
Open the Xbox app.
Select your profile icon → Redeem a code.
Enter your code and confirm.
Xbox Support chat if you have issues
If the code will not redeem after trying the methods above:
Go to the Xbox Support Contact page.
Start the Virtual Agent and choose to speak with an agent if needed.
Explain the error and ask if they can assist with applying the valid, unredeemed code to your account.
Note: Support can only help with valid, unused codes. They cannot transfer content between accounts.
3) Tips to Avoid Common Issues
Correct account. Double-check you are signed in to the Microsoft account where you want the content.
Busy times. If the console shows an error during high traffic, the website method usually works.
Region. Codes are often region locked. Redeem in the same country or region shown on the product page.
VPN. Turn off VPN or proxies while redeeming.
One-time use. Once redeemed, a code is permanently tied to that account.
